Helped by dedicated individuals who construct and erect communal nesting structures, this species of swallow is on the decline because of use and abuse of pesticides on breeding grounds, wintering grounds, and along migration routes.  Humans are slow-learners when it comes to such things.  It's sad, because there's something enriching to Life's experiences through exposure to the comings and goings and 'chatter' of a colony of these birds.
